Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a serious heart problem that runs in families and is a condition most commonly associated with sudden death in athletes. It often goes undiagnosed for years, and sometimes the first symptom is cardiac arrest. But with improved genetic testing, patients who find out they have the gene are able to take preventive steps for heart health. [TRT 1:39]
