ROCHESTER, Minn. — The public is invited to enjoy four Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program concerts in July. Performances will be on Mondays from 12:10 to 1 p.m. in Rochester Peace Plaza. The rain location for all events will be Barbara Woodward Lips Atrium, subway level, Rochester Methodist Hospital, Charlton Building, 10 Third Ave. NW.
The schedule is:
July 8: Sawtooth Bluegrass Band will perform a concert. Rain location will be Lips Atrium. Comprised of the Moravec Brothers of Wabasha, Minn., and the Birtzer brothers of Rosemount, Minn. Sawtooth has released four albums and performed onstage with Garrison Keillor of "A Prairie Home Companion." The group performs high-energy, driving instrumentals and close harmony vocals for audiences of all ages at festivals, fairs and events across the Midwest.
July 15: Peter Mayer will perform a folk concert. This singer/songwriter sells out shows from Minnesota to Texas and from New England to California. His eight albums have earned him accolades at the Minnesota Music Awards and in songwriting competitions. His profound and whimsical music challenges the boundaries of folk and highlights the beauty and mystery of the world.
July 22: The Tex Pistols will perform a rock and Americana concert. The four members of this Minneapolis-based band, Brian C. Peters, Dik Shopteau, Scott "Scooter" Nelson and Boyd Lee, have shared stages with Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beach Boys, Prince, Charlie Daniels, Tina Turner, Clint Black and Sammy Hagar. Their two albums showcase a classic but fresh take on Americana, rock and country that attracts audiences across the country.
July 29: RAMM (Real American Made Music) will perform Americana, R&B, Funk, Rock & Roll and Blues. Vocalist and guitarist Paul Mayasich collaborates with Hye Pockets Robertson, drummer and vocalist, and John Iden, bass, to celebrate all styles of American music. These Minnesota-based musicians have received local, national and international awards for their talents and offer a spectacular show for American music lovers.
Sponsored by Mayo Clinic Center for Humanities in Medicine, the Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program is coordinated by the Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester. The series is generously funded by the late Rosemary Willson in memory of her husband, Meredith Willson, who wrote the Broadway musical "The Music Man." The gift is made in gratitude for the couple's care at Mayo Clinic. More information can be found online.
