Magnet® designation is the highest international recognition that a health care organization can attain for nursing excellence and quality patient care. The Rochester campus of Mayo Clinic is 1 of only 6 health care organizations in the country to receive this designation five times. Fewer than 9 percent of approximately 5,000 U.S. hospitals earn status in the Magnet Recognition Program.Green and White Logo that reads Magnet Recognized American Nurses Credentialing Center

“This is a well-deserved recognition for our nurses and our entire Rochester practice,” says Pamela O. Johnson, M.S., R.N., N.E.A.-B.C., FAAN, chief nursing officer, Mayo Clinic. “It recognizes what our nurses do every day — provide outstanding patient care in a professional practice environment, where they have significant impact on patient outcomes. It’s gratifying to have their dedication and commitment acknowledged yet again by the Magnet Recognition Program®.”

“This is an extraordinary recognition of our nursing team at Mayo Clinic, and it underscores the team approach to care that we have,” says John Noseworthy, M.D., president and CEO, Mayo Clinic. “We are fortunate to have simply outstanding nurses at Mayo Clinic.”

“This is fantastic news and a strong endorsement of the outstanding work by the Department of Nursing on behalf of Mayo Clinic and our patients,” says C. Michel Harper Jr., M.D., executive dean of practice, Mayo Clinic. “Congratulations to our nursing team.”
