5 Years On a VAD: Ventricular Assist Device (pkg)
"You have six months, maybe a year to live." That was the reality facing heart failure patient Verna Schrombeck. Her condition had deteriorated to the point where treatment no longer helped and because of her age she was not a candidate for a heart transplant. So, surgeons at Mayo Clinic implanted a ventricular assist device that would hopefully keep Verna alive, at least for a little while.
Five years later she shares her story with Vivien Williams. [TRT 2:18]
