
Obesity is a complex disease involving an excessive amount of body fat. It increases your risk of other diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and certain types of cancer.
Obesity is determined by the percentage of body fat, not by weight. If your body fat percentage is high enough, you can have a normal weight and be considered obese — a condition known as normal weight obesity. And you may have the same serious health risks as someone with regular obesity.
