When you deep-fry potatoes, fish and chicken, each tablespoon of oil that you use adds more than 100 calories. Luckily, it's not necessary to fry foods to get a crispy, crunchy texture.

See how to make crab cakes, coconut shrimp and squash fries in your oven. Use the same technique to lighten up other fried favorites, such as eggplant and chicken.
