This week, clinical microbiologist Dr. Audrey Schuetz and Lori Duresko, education specialist in Clinical Microbiology, review a Gram stain collected from a 60-year-old male with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The patient had complained of increased cough over the past week that produced sputum. He also reported increased shortness of breath.
