Mayo Clinic PathWays: What’s the diagnosis?
This week's case reviews the history and test results of a previously healthy 63-year-old woman who began experiencing difficulties with memory, balance and fatigue. She rapidly declined over six months, with worsening confusion, hallucinations and gait difficulties. MRI and cerebrospinal fluid examination results were revealing. She died of her disease nine months after symptom onset. An autopsy was performed. Can you make the diagnosis?
