My father suffered a massive ischemic stroke in 2001. He was taken to a local hospital in a small town in northern MN. He did not receive the clot-busting drug nor did they have a Neurologist at this hospital. He had to learn to talk, walk, write…… He spent 6 weeks in in-patient rehab and had extensive occupational, physical and speech therapy. It wasn't until a year later that he finally got to see a Neurologist that came to his town from Duluth, MN. I truly believe that had this technology been available for my Dad, his suffering and devasating physical and emotional trauma could have been substantially minimized. I am so glad to see that other patients suffering from stroke may have an opportunity for a better outcome.
