Deaths from hepatitis C have reached an all-time high. That's according to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The announcement also says the disease kills more Americans than any other infectious disease. Despite new treatments that can cure many cases of hepatitis C, the report shows 19,659 people died of it in 2014. One issue may be many people don't know they have hepatitis C so they don't seek treatment.

In this Mayo Clinic Minute, reporter Vivien Williams talks to infectious diseases specialist Dr. Stacey Rizza about new and effective treatments for hepatitis C.
