According to the Centers for Disease Control, about 220,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women each year in the U.S. That means breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in their lifetime. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign started back in 1985 to increase awareness of the disease.
