    Olmsted County Public Health Recognizes Mayo Clinic Program, Doctor

Olmsted County LogoROCHESTER, Minn. — The 17th Annual Olmsted County Public Health Awards will be presented this morning during the 9 a.m. CDT Olmsted County Board of Commissioners meeting at Government Center.

These awards recognize exceptional contributions to improving the health of individuals, families and communities in Olmsted County. Each awardee plays a critical role in making Olmsted County a healthier place to live, learn, work and play.

The 2016 Public Health Awards include recognition of two such collaborative achievements from Mayo Clinic:

  1. Tuberculosis Clinic Physician Team
    This team, led by Timothy Aksamit, M.D., a pulmonary and critical care physician at Mayo Clinic, provides services within the Southeast Minnesota Tuberculosis Clinic. The clinic opened to diagnose, treat and manage all tuberculosis patients in Olmsted County.
  2. Brian Lynch, M.D., a pediatrician and Population Health Scholar in the Mayo Clinic Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery
    Dr. Lynch’s research focuses on the study of population-based interventions for pediatric obesity in the school and community setting.

Mayo Clinic collaborates with Olmsted County Public Health in many initiatives, including the Rochester Epidemiology Project, a unique national resource that will celebrate 50 years of continuous funding by the National Institutes of Health in 2016.
