ROCHESTER, Minn. — U.S. News & World Report released its 2023 "Best Graduate Schools" rankings on Tuesday, March 29. Ranked in the top 10% of medical schools in the U.S. for the sixth consecutive year is Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine.

The school is ranked No. 14 in the 2023 Best Graduate School rankings for "Best Medical Schools" in research, and overall — part of a three-way tie with two other medical schools.

"To be included as one of the top medical schools in the country is a real testament to the tremendous educational efforts of our faculty, students and staff," says Fredric Meyer, M.D., Waugh Executive Dean of Education, Mayo Clinic. The school has ranked high in research for several years, and many physician-scientists can attest to Mayo Clinic's groundbreaking biomedical advancements. Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine's multicampus curriculum immerses students in the compassionate standard of Mayo's medical practice and research as an integral part of their curriculum.

More than 80% of Mayo's medical students graduate with a research manuscript published in a peer-reviewed journal. This is more than twice the national average. Dr. Meyer notes that prospective students often consider "Best Medical School" rankings in their deliberations about where to apply and attend medical school. Others include curriculum and clinical experiences, involvement in research, the Medical College Admission Test, acceptance rates, student-to-faculty ratio and above-average achievement on national clinical knowledge exams.

Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine began in 1972 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The school has continued to grow, with the 2017 opening of Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine ― Arizona Campus and that campus' first commencement in 2021. The school expanded again in 2018 — this time with Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine ― Florida Campus offering training for third- and fourth-year medical students.
