Mayo Clinic and WomenHeart educate women with heart disease
Sixty women from across the country gathered in Rochester, Minnesota, for the 8th annual Science & Leadership Symposium, a joint effort between Mayo Clinic's Women's Heart Clinic and WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease.
The women -- ages 23 to 76 -- spent five days learning about heart disease, receiving support from other women and medical providers, and developing skills to become advocates back in their communities. The goal is to raise awareness of heart disease in women. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States. Learn more about the symposium as Dr. Sharonne Hayes, director of Mayo Clinic's Women's Heart Clinic and medical director of the Science and Leadership Symposium, Lisa Tate, and Carol Allred, share their insights.
