Mayo Clinic congratulates the UAE on its 50th anniversary
ROCHESTER, Minn. ― Mayo Clinic extends its well wishes to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the country's golden jubilee.
The UAE will mark the 50th anniversary of its founding Dec. 2.
"This is a monumental time in UAE history, and thanks to the country's hard work and determination, an ambitious vision is being realized," says Mohamad Bydon, M.D., Mayo Clinic neurosurgeon and executive medical director of International Academic Affairs. "In its first 50 years, the UAE has made significant strides in economic development, education, health care, state-of-the-art infrastructure and more to build a country with global capabilities."
Since the Mayo brothers, Mayo Clinic's founders, traveled the world to improve care for patients, Mayo Clinic has collaborated internationally to learn from others, and share its knowledge and expertise, to help patients.
Mayo Clinic has a long history of serving patients from the Middle East. Mayo Clinic and Abu Dhabi Health Services Co. created a joint venture in 2019 to operate Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
