
Thursday, November 19 is the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout. That organization encourages people who smoke to snuff out their cigarettes, cigars and pipes for one entire day. Experts from the Mayo Clinic Nicotine Dependence Center also want to help people quit, and remind us that smoking kills nearly a half a million people in the United States every year.
