
Mayo Clinic in Rochester will offer COVID-19 walk-in vaccine clinics for patients, visitors and community members the week of Monday, Oct. 4.
Pfizer booster vaccinations
Pfizer booster vaccinations will be offered to people who received the Pfizer COVID-19 initial vaccination series, as directed by the Food and Drug Administration.
A booster vaccination is recommended six months after the initial vaccination series for these groups:

Available COVID-19 vaccines
Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines will be offered at vaccination clinics, based on available supplies and patient. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for those 12 and older. The Johnson & Johnson and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are recommended for adults 18 and older.
The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is given as one dose, and the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines are given in a two-dose series. The second dose for Moderna is given 28 days after the first, and the second dose for Pfizer is given 21 days after the first. If you receive either of these vaccines, you will need to schedule your second dose. Schedulers are available at the vaccination clinics to help you schedule this second dose.
More information on 3rd doses for immunocompromised patients and booster vaccinations
It is now recommended that patients who are immunocompromised receive a booster vaccination 28 days after their second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, a second dose vaccination of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is now recommended for those are immunocompromised and received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
At this time, no guidance is available for those who are not immunocompromised and received the Johnson & Johnson or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines as their initial vaccination.
At all locations, nurses administering these COVID-19 vaccines will explain side effects, risks and benefits.
