Mayo Clinic Trustees Welcome New Member
ROCHESTER, Minn. — May 11, 2012. The Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees welcomed Linda Alvarado as a new member during a meeting today.
Alvarado is President and Chief Executive Officer of Alvarado Construction, Inc., a commercial general contractor, construction manager, development, design/build, and property management firm. Based in Denver, the company has offices in several states and has successfully developed and built projects across the U.S. and internationally. She also is President of Palo Alto, Inc. a Yum! As an owner of the Colorado Rockies baseball team, her role is significant as it also marked the first time that any woman was involved in a bid for ownership of a major league baseball team.
Linda Alvarado has been a member of the board of directors of several Fortune 500 companies, commissioner of the White House Initiative for Hispanic Excellence in Education, and is an inductee in the National Women's Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls.
Alvarado is a recipient of the Horatio Alger Award, the prestigious Sara Lee Corporation Frontrunner Award for exemplary achievement and leadership, The National Minority Supplier Development Council Leadership Award, The National Society of Hispanic MBA's "Brillante Award", the Martin Luther King Social Responsibility Award. She has been named one of the "100 Most Influential Hispanics in America" by Hispanic Business Magazine and Latino Leaders Magazine and voted by viewers as the "Most Inspiring Latino in America" for the American Latino Television Awards.
