Media Advisory: Mayo Clinic to host Governor Dayton’s task force on mental health in Rochester
WHAT: Mayo Clinic will host members of the Governor’s Task Force on Mental Health for a meeting on Monday, October 17. Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton appointed the Mental Health Task Force this spring charged with developing comprehensive recommendations to design, implement, and sustain a continuum of mental health services throughout the state. Mayo Clinic psychiatrist Bruce Sutor, M.D., is among those involved in the overhaul.
Final recommendations are expected in November and will include recommendations for public policy changes and funding proposals to solve what’s been deemed by many as a state-wide crisis.
“This is a state-wide problem exacerbated by the lack of resources for mental health which leads to bottlenecks in care at emergency departments and inpatient treatment facilities”, says Dr. Sutor. “We as a task force are looking at ways to relieve these pressure points.”
