
Facebook has announced that its users are now able to post their organ donor status in an effort to raise awareness for organ donation. This is important news especially for those who are waiting for a transplant. It's estimated nine million people could be new organ donors if 1% of Facebook users would choose to donate.
Brooks Edwards,M.D. is chair of the The William J. von Liebig Transplant Center at Mayo Clinic, where more than 1200 transplants are performed each year, and he has a special memory of a transplant patient who ended up sailing around the world.
