Christus St. Vincent in New Mexico joins Mayo Clinic Care Network

Frost Pavillion at Christus St. Vincent

SANTA FE, N.M. — Christus St. Vincent Health System is the newest member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, a select group of independent health systems that work with Mayo Clinic to improve the delivery of health care and better serve their patients and communities.

Christus St. Vincent is the first health care organization in New Mexico to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network. Through this new collaboration, Christus St. Vincent health care providers will have access to Mayo Clinic knowledge and expertise, including its research, diagnostic and treatment resources. Christus St. Vincent patients will receive the benefit from these additional resources within their community. There is no additional cost to patients, and they can avoid unnecessary travel or inconvenience.

"Christus St. Vincent has become a leader in patient safety and quality of care," says Lillian Montoya, president and CEO, Christus St. Vincent. "Choosing to work with Mayo Clinic was a natural next step in our journey to always deliver an outstanding patient experience. By extending the clinical reach of our providers, our patients and their families won't have to travel to an unfamiliar place or leave their loved ones behind to get a second opinion from one of the finest names in health care."

Founded in 1865, Christus St. Vincent was the first organized health care facility in the New Mexico Territory. Today, it is a private, not-for-profit hospital serving more than 300,000 people in seven counties in northern New Mexico. It employs more than 2,200 physicians and associates.

"We are pleased to welcome Christus St. Vincent to the network," says Keith Cannon, M.D., medical director of the Mayo Clinic Care Network's Southwest Region. "Christus St. Vincent has a long history of improving the health and well-being of its communities through dedicated, high-quality care. We look forward to working with Christus St. Vincent, collaborating to complement specialty expertise and enhance locally provided care."

Mayo Clinic developed the first integrated, multispecialty group practice more than 150 years ago. It is now the largest nonprofit group practice in the world, serving about 1.3 million patients annually. Mayo Clinic health care providers across medical specialties work together to advance medical knowledge through research and education, and apply that knowledge to patient care.

As a member of Mayo Clinic Care Network, Christus St. Vincent will have access to:

  • AskMayoExpert

AskMayoExert is a point-of-care tool that offers concise clinical information on hundreds of medical conditions and includes medical protocols, recommendations for treatment, and medical references. The database can be used wherever health care is provided.

  • eConsults

eConsults enable Christus St. Vincent physicians to contact Mayo Clinic specialists for second opinions on specific patient cases when they believe additional input will benefit their patients.

  • eBoards

The live video conferences enable Christus St. Vincent medical teams to review and discuss complex cases with a Mayo Clinic multidisciplinary panel and other doctors within the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

  • Health Care Consulting

As a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, Christus St. Vincent can access Mayo's extensive experience, knowledge and subspecialty expertise to attain clinical, operational and business goals.

Staff from Christus St. Vincent also can use patient education materials and access opportunities for professional development and continuous medical education.

Mayo Clinic launched the Mayo Clinic Care Network in 2011. It has more than 40 member organizations across the U.S. and in Asia, Mexico and the Middle East.
