
Hurricane Idalia continued to strengthen overnight, making landfall along the Florida gulf coast as a Category 3 storm. The National Hurricane Center estimated maximum sustained winds at 125 MPH. Damaging winds and devastating storm surge are anticipated. The storm is expected to track to the Northeast before turning back out into the Atlantic Ocean.
Mayo Clinic has been closely monitoring Hurricane Idalia. Due to expected weather conditions, the clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30, for non-urgent appointments. Affected patients will be contacted to reschedule. Emergency services and hospital operations will remain open. Regular business operations are expected to resume on Thursday, Aug. 31.
