Mayo Clinic announces $500,000 in Season of Gratitude Awards

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayo Clinic has announced it is awarding $500,000 in year-end grants to 80 nonprofit organizations located in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota and Wisconsin in the communities Mayo Clinic serves. Mayo Clinic staff helped determine the grant winners, with more than 5,000 votes cast across the clinic's sites.
Awardees include school districts, which received grants intended to support staff and teachers to thank them for their efforts over the past year. Other grants were awarded to a Ronald McDonald House, Boys & Girls Clubs, Lutheran Social Service, emergency shelters, a mental health resource center, the Urban League and programs that provide supports for children and families.
"We're proud to be able to distribute significant grants to organizations that make such a difference in our communities," says Erin Sexton, director of Enterprise Community Engagement at Mayo Clinic. "In a year when most budgets are stretched thin for many organizations, these unexpected financial gifts are most appreciated."
The Boys & Girls Club of Rochester is one of the organizations receiving a Season of Gratitude Award.
"There are thousands of kids in our community with limitless potential, who face significant barriers to maximizing their success," says Chad Campbell, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester. "For many years, Mayo Clinic has been a critical partner in serving our kids and their families and supporting them in overcoming those barriers. I’m so grateful to Mayo Clinic, and especially to the Mayo employees, for their support of, and commitment to, our kids and their families this holiday season."
Mayo Clinic collaborates with local community organizations all year long, supporting efforts to meet community needs, such as affordable housing, mental health, homelessness and food insecurity. Other programs focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, youth enrichment, financial stress, and health and human service needs.
