Mayo Clinic Announces Three Performances in May for the Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program

ROCHESTER, Minn. — The public is invited to enjoy three Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program concerts in May. Performances will be on Mondays from 12:10 to 1 p.m. unless otherwise indicated.

The schedule is:

May 6: The Choral Arts Ensemble will perform a choral concert in Barbara Woodward Lips Atrium, subway level, Rochester Methodist Hospital, Charlton Building, 10 Third Ave. NW. Led by Artistic Director Rick Kvam, Choral Arts Ensemble is dedicated to the creation and performance of exciting new music as well as the sensitive presentation of masterworks from the Renaissance to the 20th century.

May 13: Renowned musicians Nirmala Rajasekar, David Jordan Harris and Maryam Yusefzadeh will perform "Embracing the Beloved" in Lips Atrium. This collaborative concert speaks to human values and spiritual aspirations reflected in three distinctive musical traditions: Persian, Carnatic (South Indian), and Sephardic (Judeo-Spanish). Each lead artist will perform with a musical ensemble that specializes in the music of their tradition — "Roboyat" (Persian), "Voices of Sepharad" (Sephardic), and nationally recognized artists working in the Carnatic tradition.

May 20: The Mostly Mountain Boys will perform a bluegrass concert in Lips Atrium. Musicians Paul Brown, Terri McMurray and John Schwab collaborate to present a fun and unforgettable show full of haunting banjo tunes, rare fiddle classics and entertaining string band numbers.

Sponsored by Mayo Clinic Center for Humanities in Medicine, the Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program is coordinated by the Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester. The series is generously funded by the late Rosemary Willson in memory of her husband, Meredith Willson, who wrote the Broadway musical "The Music Man." The gift is made in gratitude for the couple's care at Mayo Clinic. More information can be found online at Humanities In Medicine.
