Mayo Clinic buildings being lighted to honor the memory of George Floyd
On Thursday, June 4, Mayo Clinic campuses in Minnesota, Arizona, and Florida will be lit yellow as a sign of hope for the days to come in conjunction with the memorial service taking place in Minneapolis, MN for George Floyd. Mr. Floyd died on May 25, 2020 from injuries inflicted by a police officer who has since been arrested along with the other officers on the scene for their actions.
"Mayo Clinic stands with those who fight for equity and justice, and will continue to work toward a more equitable and inclusive place to deliver and receive care," says Sharonne Hayes, M.D., medical director for Diversity and Inclusion.
