This achievement is reflected in the quality of interactions between physicians, nurses and patients, as well as a commitment to understanding and fulfilling patient needs throughout their healthcare journey.
Commitment to safety
The Patient Safety Excellence Award recognition is based on an analysis of 13 patient safety indicators measured through MedPAR data between 2020 and 2022, including:
- In-hospital falls resulting in hip fractures.
- Collapsed lung due to a procedure or surgery in or around the chest.
- Pressure sores or bed sores acquired in the hospital.
- Catheter-related bloodstream infections.
Many agencies rate quality in healthcare, and Mayo Clinic is the only healthcare organization that consistently ranks among the top healthcare organizations nationwide regardless of the quality measure used.
