Healthgrades, a national consumer organization that provides patients with information on hospitals and physicians, has recognized Mayo Clinic for its commitment to exceptional patient care.

Mayo Clinic was recently recognized by Healthgrades for its commitment to exceptional patient care. Healthgrades is an online resource for patients to find information about physicians and hospitals.

The Outstanding Patient Experience Award recognizes healthcare facilities that excel in fostering clear and compassionate communication with patients and their families.

Focus on patient-centered care

The Outstanding Patient Experience Award recognition is based on patient survey data released in November 2023 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, covering patients discharged between Jan. 1, 2022, and Dec. 31, 2022.

This achievement is reflected in the quality of interactions between physicians, nurses and patients, as well as a commitment to understanding and fulfilling patient needs throughout their healthcare journey.

Commitment to safety

The Patient Safety Excellence Award recognition is based on an analysis of 13 patient safety indicators measured through MedPAR data between 2020 and 2022, including:

  • In-hospital falls resulting in hip fractures.
  • Collapsed lung due to a procedure or surgery in or around the chest.
  • Pressure sores or bed sores acquired in the hospital.
  • Catheter-related bloodstream infections.

Many agencies rate quality in healthcare, and Mayo Clinic is the only healthcare organization that consistently ranks among the top healthcare organizations nationwide regardless of the quality measure used.
