Mayo Clinic hospitals again earn Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings
Mayo Clinic hospitals received star ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for overall hospital quality. Mayo leaders thank staff for their commitment to deliver high-quality care with empathy and attention to detail
Mayo Clinic hospitals across the organization received star ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on July 26.
The ratings — for Overall Hospital Quality — provide patients with information on several aspects of quality.
Overall Hospital Quality star ratings
Across Mayo Clinic, 10 hospitals were awarded star ratings for their Overall Hospital Quality. Among them, nine achieved a perfect score of five stars, representing the highest possible rating, while one hospital received a commendable four-star rating. Notably, the national average stands at three stars.
"This is only possible because of our talented Mayo Clinic staff,” says Sean Dowdy, M.D., Mayo Clinic's chief value officer. "Past and anticipated future recognition of Mayo Clinic hospitals will continue to acknowledge our staff’s deep commitment to empathic and high-quality care."
The star rating provides patients with information about multiple dimensions of quality in a single score. Star ratings are assigned based on a hospital's composite score of 51 quality metrics from inpatient and outpatient quality reporting programs.
