ROCHESTER, Minn. – Mayo Clinic’s vast online library of health information for patients is now available in Arabic. The new website, www.mayoclinic.org/arabic, offers Arabic speakers access to expert information about diseases, conditions, medical tests and treatments, pursuing a healthy lifestyle and more. Visitors to the site can request appointments, learn about Mayo Clinic’s services for international patients and explore information about research, education and medical specialties at Mayo Clinic.

Creation of the website reflects Mayo Clinic’s mission to serve as a partner in health care for people around the world, says Mohamad Bydon, M.D., a neurosurgeon who participates in Mayo Clinic’s international outreach.

“Each year, Mayo Clinic cares for more than 1 million patients from the United States and roughly 140 other countries. We are committed to ensuring that language is not a barrier to world-class medical care or trusted health information from Mayo Clinic,” Dr. Bydon says. “The new website will help patients and their families and friends find expert health care information and access Mayo Clinic’s services for international patients.”

At Mayo Clinic, care teams work together to provide an unparalleled patient experience. That includes coordinated appointment schedules; one personal physician coordinating a patient’s care; seamless communication; and a healing environment. The care team partners with patients and respects individual needs and preferences.

Mayo Clinic has campuses in Rochester, Minnesota; Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona; and Jacksonville, Florida. International patients can request an appointment online or by email, phone or fax. In most cases, a physician referral isn’t necessary. Interpreters are available at no cost.
