‘The Mayo Clinic Diet: The Healthy Approach to Weight Loss’ video course now available
ROCHESTER, Minn. ─ Mayo Clinic and The Great Courses have collaborated to create another video-based course highlighting Mayo Clinic’s expertise to help consumers feel better and become healthier by following a diet program that fits comfortably into their lives.
"The Mayo Clinic Diet: The Healthy Approach to Weight Loss" is based on the second edition of the New York Times bestseller, The Mayo Clinic Diet. Donald Hensrud, M.D., shares a straight-forward weight-loss plan for course participants. The Mayo Clinic Diet framework is simple: Add five new habits, break five old habits and adopt five bonus habits. Consumers can learn about setting caloric goals, saving time in food prep, developing a physical activity plan, and tracking progress, as well as how thoughts and emotions affect weight loss.
Course content includes numerous demonstrations with Jennifer Welper, wellness executive chef in the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program, who offers an additional perspective focused on food and nutrition. Welper demonstrates everything from slicing and dicing to searing, grilling and roasting ─ helping to build meal prep confidence and excitement for course participants.
In 12 lectures, this course teaches how:
- To prepare and cook delicious, healthy foods
- Emotions affect a person’s eating, exercise and weight loss
- To anticipate and overcome weight-loss challenges
- To design a weight-loss plan that works for each person
"The Mayo Clinic Diet: The Healthy Approach to Weight Loss," available on two DVDs or via video download, includes a course guidebook and free video streaming of the course from The Great Course’s website and mobile apps. This new course complements all Mayo Clinic Diet offerings, including the book, the online program, and The Mayo Clinic Diet Experience at the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program."The Mayo Clinic Diet: The Healthy Approach to Weight Loss" joins other Mayo Clinic-led courses offered through The Great Courses, including "The Mayo Clinic Guide to Pain Relief" and "The Science of Integrative Medicine."
