Studies have shown that men are less likely to visit a health care provider than women, "Men feel uncomfortable with potential invasion of physical privacy and don’t like to discuss their health," says Dr. Vandana Bhide, an internist at Mayo Clinic. "If they don’t feel there is anything wrong, men will often say it's an issue of time."
But Dr. Bhide says it's time well spent. The health numbers revealed during a routine visit offer some insights, including the risk for heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in U.S. men.
