Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro in Mexico joins Mayo Clinic Care Network

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro is the newest member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, a select group of independent health systems that works closely with Mayo Clinic to improve the delivery of health care and better serve their patients and communities.
In this new collaboration, the medical community of Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro now can obtain timely and evidence-based medical opinions, and diagnostic and treatment options from Mayo Clinic. This comes at no additional cost to patients and helps them avoid unnecessary travel from their country. Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro is the first network member from western Mexico.
“By providing a second medical opinion, we at Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro are now capable of providing our patients the advantage of broader diagnostic results supported by the advice and expertise of Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic specialists are not only prestigious in the U.S., but around the world,” says Alejandro Gil Luna, general director, Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro.
Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro is a tertiary care hospital group with five hospitals and other facilties in the Guadalajara metropolitan area, Colima and Tepic. It offers care in 30 specialties, including transplant, cardiology and neurology.

These live video conferences allow medical teams to review and discuss complex cases. Multidisciplinary teams include Mayo Clinic specialists and other doctors from the Mayo Clinic Care Network. - Health Care Consulting
Network members can access Mayo Clinic knowledge and best practices to attain clinical, operational and business goals.
Staff from Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro also can use educational materials designed for patients, and access opportunities for professional development and continuous medical education.
Ricardo Acosta, M.D., president of the Board of Directors of Centro Médico Puerta de Hierro, says this collaboration is aimed at offering the best medical services.

The Mayo Clinic Care Network was created in 2011. It has more than 40 member organizations from the U.S., China, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea and United Arab Emirates.
