    Mayo Clinic announces changes to administrative leadership

PHOENIX/SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Paula Menkosky, chief administrative officer of Mayo Clinic in Arizona, will assume the enterprise chief human resources officer role, rotating out of her current position.

Marialena Murphy, M.S.N., M.H.A., Mayo Clinic in Arizona’s chief nursing officer, will serve as interim chief administrative officer as a search begins.

“Paula is an outstanding executive leader, and I am very glad Mayo Clinic will continue to benefit from her expertise and values-driven approach as she leads our people strategy,” says Gianrico Farrugia, M.D., Mayo Clinic’s president and CEO. “We also thank Marialena for her willingness to serve as interim chief administrative officer, while also maintaining her current role, ensuring continuity of the leadership team and a stable transition as we begin the search for a new chief administrative officer.”

In her new role, Menkosky will lead Mayo Clinic’s people strategy, forecasting workforce requirements of the future, advancing initiatives in organizational leadership and development, and collaborating with other Mayo Clinic leaders to maintain Mayo’s core values.

“I thank Paula for her leadership and partnership over the past several years,” says Richard Gray, M.D., CEO of Mayo Clinic in Arizona. “She has guided Mayo Clinic in Arizona during a period of tremendous growth and advancement, including nine consecutive years ranked as the No. 1 hospital in Arizona and five consecutive years on the U.S. News & World Report national Honor Roll.”

“She will continue to be an asset to the enterprise Mayo Clinic leadership team,” adds Dr. Gray.

Cathy Fraser, current chief human resources officer, will depart the organization to pursue a new opportunity. These leadership transitions are effective Aug. 12.

A search for a new chief administrative officer for Mayo Clinic in Arizona will begin immediately, led by Dr. Gray and Christina Zorn, chief administrative officer of Mayo Clinic.
