Discover a world of healthcare career opportunities at Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences events

Healthcare careers are in high demand, and Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences has events this month in Arizona and Minnesota to introduce prospective students to more than 20 promising healthcare career options.
At Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix on Saturday, Oct. 7, the school will host an Education and Career Fair for high school students. The event is designed for students interested in healthcare who want to learn more about the wide variety of nursing and allied health programs available at Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences.
The event is from 10 a.m. to noon MST and registration is required. Students will have opportunities to meet with program directors and staff, chat with current students, get hands-on practice with simulated wound care and basic life support mannequins, learn how to apply for admission and talk with Mayo Clinic human resources representatives to learn about these high-demand careers.
The event is held in collaboration with Arizona State University and Maricopa Community Colleges, with whom the school partners on a variety of programs. For more information, send an email to arzeducareerfair@mayo.edu.
In Rochester on Thursday, Oct. 19, more than 20 allied healthcare programs for careers that are in high demand will be featured at the annual Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences open house. As with the Arizona event, Rochester and Upper Midwest students can explore healthcare careers, talk with faculty, current students and staff, and learn first-hand about what makes allied healthcare training at Mayo Clinic stand out.
The open house will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. CST in Phillips Hall, Siebens Building. Registration is available online as well as at the event.
"This event gives students a close-up look at some of the most rewarding and sought-after careers in healthcare," says Jolene Young, senior admissions recruiter. "At Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences, we provide not only the knowledge and skills needed for each profession, but also the professionalism, patient-centeredness and service excellence that distinguish Mayo graduates."
Visitors can participate in special tours, including a "behind the scenes" tour of classroom and clinical areas, to see where instruction and learning take place in Rochester.
Undergraduate programs featured are ophthalmic assistant, pharmacy technician, phlebotomy, cardiovascular invasive specialist, clinical neurophysiology technology, emergency medicine paramedic, histology, magnetic resonance imaging, radiography, surgical technology, child life specialist, cytotechnology, echocardiography, medical laboratory sciences, nuclear medicine technology, radiation therapy, radiography, respiratory care, sonography and surgical first assistant.
Graduate programs featured are nurse anesthesia, physical therapy and physician assistant.
